Day Twenty Three: Loving My Body

Loving you was never a concern

Until fingers pointed out the qualities of you that weren’t accepted

Until pieces of you were assaultedTouched in ways that made you feel provocative

At the same time those hands told me you were nothing

You weren’t drawn to their perfection

The opposite of what they called voluptuous

They wanted to know if the bones in you could be touched

Pulling their hands back as if they’ve been cut

Forever distorting my body’s image
