Morning Meditation To Start The Day Self Aware


In this post, I will be sharing a step by step guide on how to bring awareness to self with a morning meditation. This morning meditation is really easy and only requires you to bring your mind to the present moment.

When I am meditating, I feel this inner peace filter through my body and I know I am okay. Everything is okay. My mind runs it’s course gradually slowing down and that’s when I know I’ve arrived fully aware.

Have you ever experienced that calming peace? It is an experience we should start our day knowing and embodying. Adding a morning meditation to your daily routine will help aid you in starting your day with self awareness.


Why Is Self Awareness Important?

Self awareness is essential to understand who we are and what we need to heal. We cannot be our best selves if we are unaware of what that looks like in order to set goals to achieve it. We cannot bring light to our shadow if we are unaware that our darkness exists.

Self awareness is all about knowing and accepting who we are at the core, acknowledging and healing trauma, and loving ourselves through it all. Self awareness is tightly knitted with the concept of meditation and it is impossible to achieve one without the other.


A Morning Meditation To Start The Day Self Aware

Wake & Bake

Open your eyes and come back to your body. Feel into your body as you stretch and bring awareness from your toes to your head. When your eyes are ready, open your blinds and take in that natural light.


Breath

Lay down on your back and begin to bring your awareness to your breath. Take a deep breath in and then exhale slowly. As you breathe in, feel that breath going to your toes and as you breathe out, let go of the things that are no longer serving you on your journey to be your best self. Visualize all of those things leaving your body through your mouth.

Affirmation

Now that you’ve cleared your mind of negative thoughts, it is time to replace them with affirming positive thoughts and healing reiki energy. If you have not received an initiation attunement that’s okay, you will still be able to complete this part as you’re only using your energy for your own healing.

Place your hands on your heart and head. Take this moment to bring awareness to your hands.

What do you feel?

When you are ready recite this prayer:

“I am kind

I am happy

I am mindful

I am grateful

I am doing my best”

You can use my version of the Reiki Prayer above or you can create your own prayer, mantra, or affirmation. Whenever you are claiming something you should use the rule of three and always recite what you wish to affirm three times. Once you are done, stay present with whatever you are feeling and acknowledge how you feel.

Why do I feel that way?

Where do I feel that in my body?

It is a normal response for your mind and body to reject something that opposes its subconscious programming. Even though it can feel like you’ve failed, being aware of what failed and knowing exactly what you are rejecting will help you to begin the healing process.


Healing

Here are some ways that you can deepen your healing with the information you’ve received from this morning meditation:

  • Journaling

Take some time to write about your experience and everything that came up for you. Don’t hold back!

  • Dancing

Moving your body to some of your favorite self love tunes, rhythms that make you feel good, or sounds that help you flow can help encourage your body to open itself to change.

  • Nature

Exploring mother’s creation, listening to the wind blow, taking in the sun, and being amongst life can open you up to who you at the core. Don’t forget to breathe.
